Subway Desk Light Clues

Use test results to explain what people can see.

Light Tests at the Desk

Listen to the story. Use the table to answer the questions.

A Subway Worker's Check

A busy city subway station has a help desk. A worker named Inez checks a paper map and a small battery sign. She tests one object at a time inside a covered viewing space. The cover blocks light from the station. Inez stays at the same viewing spot. She changes which light is on and records whether she can see the object. The paper map does not make light. She does not test the map and sign together.

Inez's Results
Test | Object | Desk lamp | Sign switch | Object seen?
1 | Paper map | OFF | Not used | No
