A Letter from the Cabin
1Dear Aunt Rosa,
We are staying at a cabin in the mountains with our cousin Theo. The cabin is made of big round logs. At night, the sky is so dark that we can see lots of stars.
2Yesterday, a gray cloud rolled over the mountain. We heard a loud boom, and Theo jumped. Mom said, "Let's stay inside and make soup!" We cut up carrots and peas for the pot. The soup was hot and tasty.
3This morning, we went on a hike with a group from the next cabin. A young girl named Nora led the way. We found a tiny brown toad near a log, but I did not touch it. Theo counted twenty pinecones on the ground.
4Now I am sitting by the fire, and I feel happy and sleepy. I will try to send you a photo soon.
Love,
Maya
